Wardrobes aren't easy things to deal with. Most of us- even some minimalists, and women in particular- spend a lot of time trying desperately to figure out what we are going to wear. And half the time, we don't even wear most of what we own. I didn't want to put in the work to create a capsule wardrobe if it was going to fail anyway, so I tried to ensure that my wardrobe would be as minimalist as possible, yet without all the work. For thirty days, I took pictures of what I was wearing on my smartphone. At the end of the thirty days, I looked for what I did and did not wear and put those pieces of items aside. Then I counted. I had twenty five shirts, pants, and accessories that I wore on a regular basis. I could add eight pieces of clothing to my wardrobe and still keep it pared down! So I got a little creative. I gave myself a couple more jewelry items, a few more shirts, and added a pair of dress pants that I knew I would wear when the weather warmed up. And guess what happened? No one said anything. No one, not even my dear mother [who usually voices her opinion on my clothing choices without shame] said or even seemed to notice the change in what I was wearing. I didn't even see a difference between what I'm wearing now and what I was wearing in those thirty days!
I didn't include some things in my capsule wardrobe- although I hope to eventually- namely,
I'm definitely going to be paring this down next month! Getting dressed in the morning looks the same to others (because I'm wearing the same thing), but it is infinitely easier to me. I'm not digging through piles of clothing in a desperate attempt to find a shirt I'm okay wearing, but instead picking out of a small selection that I know fits me well and that I love wearing. I have literally gotten dressed in the dark before, and everything matched!
I challenge you to figure out where you can pare down. Try a capsule wardrobe for a month. And remember- Project 333 isn't about depriving yourself. If something doesn't fit or is worn out, replace it. Adjust your wardrobe if necessary. Don't be afraid to change what you have in your wardrobe to match your new lifestyle- allow yourself to be inspired as you mindfully dress yourself in things that make you feel good.

- Sleepwear
- Underwear
- Workout Clothing
- Sentimental Jewelry that I never take off, like my ring.
