So, you'll see a post in a few days about how I failed to minimize my possessions the first few times. Eventually I gave in to the idea of having a packing party. Here's how it went:
I am successful. Over the next few days, I'll share my unpacking process with you.
Keep it simple,
Sarah
- 6 pm- I give up on the idea of writing it all down and begin debating a packing party.
- 6:15 pm- I come up with about five other ways to minimize besides having this "party."
- 6:16 pm- I negate all of the ideas as "way too much work."
- 6:18 pm- I negate a packing party as "way too much work."
- 6:20 pm- I look around and decide that a packing party has to happen.
- 6:30 pm- Armed with bags, boxes, and sheets, I put on some music and begin throwing things haphazardly into boxes and bags, labeling them with my beloved post it notes as I go.
- 8:30 pm- I begin covering things with sheets, beginning with my bed.
- 8:45 pm- I realize that my bed is oddly shaped and that covering it with a sheet is not going to be easy without using tape.
- 9:00 pm- I resort to using tape.
- 9:10 pm- Everything I own has become unusable in one way or another.
- 9:15 pm- I exhaustively realize that I am going to need to begin unpacking the things I need before bed right away.
- 9:30 pm- I have unpacked my skin care, toothbrush, headband, and hairbrush. I share toothpaste, floss, and mouthwash with my family.
- 10:00 pm- I collapse into bed and realize that this took me four hours, but I wasted a half hour debating.
- 10:02- I pledge to jump full force into minimalism without debating to actually receive the time that this "minimalist thing" promises.
I am successful. Over the next few days, I'll share my unpacking process with you.
Keep it simple,
Sarah
